Joe Bruno on the Mob – Feds arrest 2,900 illegal immigrants with criminal records

Now this is what I’m talking about.

Finally, the federal government has gotten off its butts and did something about the illegal immigrant problems in this country, especially the illegal immigrants who are known criminals.

In a seven-day period, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) went on a rampage and using over 1900 ICE agent, they arrested over 2900 illegal immigrants. This round-up, which was called “Operation Cross Check” took place in all 50 states, as well as in the American territories of Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

Of the 2900 illegal immigrants arrested, 1,282 had multiple prior criminal convictions and more than 1,600 had prior felony convictions. These felonies included manslaughter, attempted murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, drug trafficking, child abuse, sexual crimes against minors, and aggravated assault.

The question is how did these criminals get in our country in the first place, and what took so long for ICE to finally make a move in finally arresting them?

It’s true – better late than never, but now that ICE has finally did its job, the next move is to secure all our boarders, especially the ones in the southwest where murderous Mexican Drugs gangs are having a field day smuggling drugs and criminals into our fine country. We need higher concrete walls constructed on the boarders. And we also need a substantial increase in the number of American boarder agents to stem the flow of undesirables into the United States.

Of course, all this costs money. And considering all the money our government has wasted on nonsensical things, like the recent Solyndra solar cell debacle, maybe the Obama administration would be wise to spend less to subsidize green jobs companies, who are just as likely to go bankrupt then they are in turning a profit. Our government should instead spend our money on things we really need – the securing of our national boarders is one of them.

You want to put people to work? Create more boarder patrol jobs. And create thousands of construction jobs for people to put up high and impenetrable walls on our boarders. These are certainly what Obama called “shovel ready jobs.” So let’s get to it!

Of course, some liberal progressives would say by stemming the flow of illegal immigration into our country, we are being insensitive to the needs of the poor illegal immigrants, who sneak into America only because of the lack of jobs in their own countries.

I say phooey on that. That’s their own countries problems.

We have enough problems of our own.

Feds arrest 2,900 illegal immigrants with criminal records

WASHINGTON — A seven-day law enforcement operation led to the arrest of more than 2,900 illegal immigrants with criminal records, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials said Wednesday.

The operation — dubbed “Cross Check” — was the largest of its kind in US history and involved over 1,900 ICE officers and agents as well as cooperation from federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies. ICE made arrests in all 50 states and four US territories: Guam, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands.

“The results of this targeted enforcement operation underscore ICE’s ongoing commitment and focus on the arrest and removal of convicted criminal aliens and those that game our nation’s immigration system,” said ICE director John Morton.

Of the 2,901 aliens arrested, all had at least one prior criminal conviction, 1,282 had multiple prior criminal convictions and more than 1,600 had prior felony convictions. These felonies included manslaughter, attempted murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, drug trafficking, child abuse, sexual crimes against minors, and aggravated assault.

681 of the arrested were immigration fugitives who had failed to adhere to previous orders to leave the country, while 386 were illegal re-entrants who had been previously deported multiple times.

“Because of the tireless efforts and teamwork of ICE officers and agents in tracking down at large criminal aliens and fugitives, there are 2,901 fewer criminal aliens in our neighborhoods across the country,” Morton added.
